SOKHAI RUIVANAO
Sokhai is one our most happy and cheerful teachers here at Bridge. He hails from Manipur, a beautiful cultured state in the North Eastern Part of India with music, art and dance flowing in the air all around. His first inspiration came from his father, who was an exceptionally talented singer song-writer and a choir director. He picked up the Guitar in a socio-cultural way and figured his favourite songs all by himself. Some of the teachers then even helped him understand basic staff notation but it still wasn’t enough. His aim was to become a rockstar and tour the world. In his early years, he started Singing and played the Bass Guitar at his local church and learnt a great deal about musicianship qualities performing with local musicians. But truth be told, he could not wait to finish schooling and get access to professional learning to pursue his dreams. Like the rest of education in India, the good opportunities were reserved to big cities which is what brought him to New Delhi.
Without much help from his peers, Sokhai managed to complete his Bachelors in Delhi and even started on his Professional learning. In no time, he found himself dedicating all his time to learning guitar professionally. His playing flourished under the able guidance of some of the best teachers in the city, including Mr. Shankar Dey. He went on to earn the prestigious ATCL and LTCL diplomas from Trinity College London. He is a strong believer of the fact that learning is a lifelong pursuit and hence is currently pursuing the FTCL (Fellowship) Diploma.
Sokhai has now over 11 years of experience of playing in many bands in and around NCR and teaching with various schools. His dream of becoming of World Class Guitarist is still there be it with Electrical or Classical which is what makes his teaching open to all kinds of Music. He enjoys teaching his students the fundamentals and takes pride in nurturing the young talents in the right way.
