Western Contemporary Vocals
Vocals technique has evolved rapidly with the development of technology over the last century. With development of high quality microphones and PA systems, artists may now perform to millions of live audiences. With these developments, the focus of the vocal technique has shifted more to the tone production than projection of voice.
Since we hear our voice through our cheek bones, which is the reason why our recorded voice sounds very different to our ears, students pursuing vocals constantly need feedback from a professional coach who can give them tips to improve their voice quality and tone from an audience perspective.
Students learning contemporary vocals will focus on tone production, mic handling techniques, performance skills among other aspects of singing such as pitch training, breathing, developing support, sight singing, ear training to name a few. The genre of music include Rock, Pop, Soul, RnB and contemporary genres of music.
